Full Circle

We were told to expect the worse by the medical experts, and yet, today Poppa actually went home from the hospital. Okay, not exactly home, but across the street from where he lives with Nanny to an assisted-living facility where he can rest, recover and undergo physical therapy.

It’s a miracle…or pretty close to one. We are all very grateful to have him still here. Thank you to those of you who have reached out to express good thoughts and wishes for his recovery. It has meant a lot to me.

In other lighter news, Clare has had a good week. Her language development has really been exploding. She’s putting together two-word sentences and last weekend busted out with, “Mommy, NO!” I can’t even remember what she was protesting because as soon as those words slipped from her mouth I had to stifle the laughter that escaped from mine. Other phrases we’ve heard recently include directives like, “Logan, bed!” and “Mommy (or Daddy), bum.” “Bum” is Clare’s way of saying “come,” and it’s just too darn cute when she says it.

While home in Miami last month, we had a slideshow night where my dad pulled out the old projector and hundreds of slides, some of which I had never seen before. It’s long been a complaint of mine that, as the second child, there are very few pictures of me as a baby or young child. Well, guess what? My early childhood was, in fact, captured…on slides!

Seeing pictures like this one of me at age two, was incredible, because I could finally see some resemblance between my daughter and myself. You can judge for yourself, of course.

Love it! Is that a little crack I see on our cute tractor driver?
Glad to hear your Grandfather was discharged. Good news.
